I can’t afford representation, legal aid, which offers free legal representation to people with modest means, didn’t take my case because I wasn’t desperate enough and now I am DESPERATE! I work full-time, I go to school, and all I can afford is one bedroom in someone else’s home. My ex lives in a 3200 square foot home, drives a Jaguar and plays tennis at the club every day. He pays me very little in child support, and he’s in the process of changing his payment to even less. I can’t leave the city I live in and I can’t afford to pay rent here! My son is too old to have to be sharing a bedroom with his mother. Is there anyone out there who can help me?
In order to go to the courthouse, I would have to be in line by 5 AM or even earlier, otherwise I wouldn’t get to speak to one of the legal aids they provide. I’ve been down that road and I spent the whole day waiting at the courthouse and never did get to speak to anyone. Motsly, they just tell me to get a lawyer. I have a five year-old, I can’t leave him at 4 AM to get to the courthouse early enough. Looking up links on the Internet is not going to help me. I can and have done that myself.

I have 50/50 custody of my daughter and her father has been lying to me and doing things without my consent. We were getting along recently and then he switched on me for no apparent reason and started being a jerk again. He got her baptised in the Catholic faith (his wife is Catholic) and lied to me, telling me it was a Non-Denominational church. I found out when I insisted on a copy of the baptismal certificate. Then, today he went and got my daughter her first haircut after I explicitly expressed my wish for us all (including stepmom) to do it together, because it is special and I wanted to take pictures and save some of her hair for her baby book.

How many days does respondent get to answer petitioner’s interrogatories? What instructions/captions are needed? Are the number of questions limited to 25? By what method are these best served on respondent?
I have read the Fed. procedure and am trying to find out if there are any LOCAL rules. I can’t afford an attorney. I NEED the info from the interrog. I’m not STUPID nor UNEDUCATED, just broke and trying to collect child support arrears, thank you very much.

My ex-boyfriend (father to my 2 1/2 year old daughter) and I are going to trial over custody issues as well as child support & what not. I’ve heard that it’s illegal for a judge to hear your case if he knows either party personally. I got my papers from my lawyer, and she knows that I’m familiar with a particular judge… This judge and I don’t socialize or anything – we just know eachother from church. Yet he’s scheduled to hear my case. Is this legal? NOTE: I live in Washington State if that helps at all. I don’t know if this issue varies from state to state.

Last year on Sept 01, 07 my son announced to his mother he does not want to live with her anymore. He is now 13. He has lived with her since the divorce of 5 years ago. Since the divorce she has not been ammicable towards me. My son has played ice hockey and roller hockey and baseball. he doesn’t play them anymore because of her lack of support. she is mentaly abusive to him and keeps him from me. I only see him under the divorce visitation days and times. He has begged her to let him go. She treats him like “an old pair of shoes in the back of a closet that no one wants to wear” (his own words). I have emails gallore on how bad it is there and needs to get out. She forced him to light fireworks then ridiculed him when he refused because he was affraid. He ran away to the police to have them get me. The judge is pushing the case asside in wanting social worker after psychologist gallore interview all. This is costing close to 25k and I can’t take it anymore!! Niether can my son. “NJ”

it is now common practice that every little problems between husband and wife is been settled in court of divorce than families of marriage couples. this is a bad tradition we are laying for our children.
families of husband and wife know more of their wards behaviour, since they were the ones that brought them up before they become husband and wife. Also both must have moved for many years, during these periods they would have known eachother dos and dons before deciding to be husband and wife. Therefore there must be an understanding between them before going into marriage. these are avenues both should have exploit not to file papers for divorce.

Both parents are 18. They had a temporary order that has expired for the visitation, but I guess not the child support. The father has been kept from seeing his infant son for four months nor has he had any communication with the mother (she wont answer letters or phones), but he has been paying child support up until last month. He also pays all the health care benefits. He has the support, but has kept it in an account until he is able to communicate with the mother or will bring it to mediation. The father is in the military, stationed within 150 miles from the child. Should he hire an attorney or wait til after mediation? She has a really nasty one.

So my husband and his ex-wife have a 5-year-old son together. She is the primary residential parent and he is the secondary residential parent. They went to mediation, and in the mediation paperwork it specifically states that she will “inform the secondary custodial parent of any non-routine medical treatment” and also “of any condition serious enough to miss school or be taken to a physician” Well last month when we had my stepson, he soiled himself several times, and told my husband he had gone to the doctor for it and his mommy gives him special yogurt for it. My husband tried asking his ex-wife several times about this, but she insists he’s not on a special diet and ignored my husband’s questioning about him seeing the doctor. We finally received his medical records today, and he was diagnosed with encopresis, a condition which makes children over potty-training age soil themselves. The doctor suggested that he eat extra fiber and prescribed Miralax (a laxative) once a day. This was in SEPTEMBER. We have had him three times since he was diagnosed, yet it was never brought to our attention. We are planning on filing contempt on Monday morning, and I’m just wondering if anything will actually come of this? Or if they will just brush it aside because this will be the first time we file for contempt? It is a Florida case.
